my fashion cupboard

It’s Friday, and I feel inspired. As you know, I’ve just moved house and I thought I’d share my new spare room with you - aka my very own fashion cupboard!

So far it's definitely my favourite room in the house (of course it is! duh!). But not just because it’s full of clothes and shoes. We really wanted to use the space wisely – somewhere that could accommodate a sofa-bed for friends and family, house all my clothes and accessories (no mean feat!), and also be a lovely creative hub where me and my hubby can work, or I can just hang out with girlfriends before a big night out... I think it’s been a total success. And from now on, it’s where I’ll be writing my blog every day (unless I’m running around town like a crazy person, on a shoot or drowning in bags doing returns!)

My hubby - who I hate to say it, is a genius (yes, even after eight years, he still has his moments!) - found this amazing do-it-yourself storage system from Ikea. It’s called Stolmen
And the very next day after we moved in, we went out to buy it. Basically, you buy every single component individually – down to the last shelf bracket. Which means planning is absolutely essential.
Top tip: make sure you make a rock solid plan of your room layout beforehand, so you know EXACTLY what you need. If in doubt: borrow a boyfriend or whoever. Just make sure they know their inches from their centimetres! I don’t! I just know how many hangers I’ll need – enough to sink the Titanic! :-))

Anyways, true to Ikea form it all comes in flat pack. Against all odds we managed to fit the whole lot into our tiny car - picture here... Seriously it cannot be easier!

And this I swear: girls (or guys) you will never, ever look back.

It’s still very much a work-in-process. Every day I'm changing everything and deciding what goes where. But so far - this is the result... I have three separate hanging rails, a couple of drawers, shoe racks, a computer desk, and plenty of space for storage boxes (which means I haven’t thrown away half the junk I should... I can’t! I still get tears in my eyes every time I read a ten year old birthday card!). But you can design it however you want and whatever your needs are.

So do you like it? Do you love it? Too much? Let me know all your thoughts!

Lots of fashionable love, M xxx

nelly.com

People! I am excited.com
There’s a fab new website in town (well, online)... Get your purses ready for

With around 10 million  (yes, that’s right - 10 million) hits per month, nelly.com is THE number one online fashion retailer in the Nordic region. Everyone who’s anyone knows the Scandinavians do ‘cool’ better than most – and I’m not just talking about the climate.
So step aside Ikea – there’s a new Viking invasion on the way, and this one is REALLY well dressed.

The website is home to over 800 external brands and more than 30 inhouse labels, with hundreds of new pieces arriving daily.

I went to the UK press launch last week and I have to say all the merchandise was fabulous with a capital ‘F’! The quality was superb.
I’m sure we’ve all ordered something off a website and when it arrives in the post minus the wafer thin model and swanky location it looks... well, a bit rubbish. There’s no danger of that happening here. Better still, it’s all really affordable!

Without doubt, my favourite items were the spiky flat shoes. I CANNOT wait to pimp up my summer time outfits with these prickly pair of pumps. Perfect!

I've also selected a few other items which I love – see below. And no, I haven’t mistyped the prices!

So get out the rain, grab yourself a mug of loganberry tea and check out the hottest thing to come out of Scandinavia since Sarah Lund’s woolly jumper...

floral dress £41.95
transparent shirt £33.95
sleeveless shirt £49.95

a seven day snapshot #1

Hi everyone!

I've finally got the internet back!! Which means lots of lovely posts for you all!
First of all, I've had a great new idea. Every Sunday there will be (fingers crossed) a new post: my week in pictures. I'm totally obsessed with Instagram (aren't we all? btw- my Instagram name: mirahearts

So I thought it would be a fab idea to post what happened in my week in a series of cut-out-and-keep snapshots. Obviously today isn't Sunday - it's Monday. And my 'week' is a bit longer than seven days, as I started taking pics about two weeks ago before the house move.

So a small treat for you - pics from the last fortnight instead! Consider it a 2-for-1!

Enjoy!

Primark Spring/Summer Collection

Hi lovely people!

I'm super excited about this post for 3 reasons. First of all, because I love finding (not-so-secret) shopping treasures to share. Second, because all these pretty things signal the start of summer, and I can officially start planning my holiday...or more importantly , my holiday wardrobe (hmmm... where to go this year? Ideas??). And third, because all these beauties are from Primark! Yes, believe it!

And this year Primark have outdone themselves. The collection is brimming with bright prints, colourful florals, pretty pastels dresses (the 50s retro look is scorching hot right now) and cute accessories.

Doesn't matter if you're looking for a sexy Ibiza outfit, some new festival clobber, or something sporty for the Olympics (there's nothing wrong with eating an ice cream while you watch, right?!)...visiting a  Primark store is a must this summer.

Seriously, I cannot wait to go and hunting for these clothes. And I hope to see you in between the rails! Are you ready? On your marks...Get set...Go! xx
